The cover caught my eye so I figured why not try it out tonight with my mom as a family dessert, and this was sooo delicious! The instructions were easy to follow with lots of photos so you'd know exactly what you needed to do with each step. I also learned how to prepare the chocolate so that it formed a nice, hard shell over the strawberry (instead of being a gooey mess which happened the last time I tried to make a chocolate covered strawberry with the recipe of my imagination.) Nice easy to understand directions for tempering chocolate for dipping. This cookbook is for people who are new to making truffles, and working with chocolate in general.

They also look to be very easy to make if you follow the step-by-step instructions and illustrations. The author also goes into working with chocolate so these turn out perfect every time.

Royce has done a great job and taking us through the step by step process for making these delicious sweets. It’s currently March, so I’ll be making a couple of ‘test’ batches in practice for next Valentine ’s Day. What will earn you more brownie points, chocolates you bought at the store or chocolates you took time to make?
This step-by-step guide to making truffles and chocolate covered strawberries is simply delicious. I love chocolate but am not much of a cook, so I've never attempted to take on cooking with melted chocolate. It seemed so intimidating but this book offers easy-to-follow steps and tips for trouble-shooting. The photos provide valuable visualization of what each step will look like if done correctly. The directions are short and simple and now I feel that I have enough guidance to churn out truffles and chocolate-covered strawberries Doolittle effort and anxiety!
From the picture on the cover to the very last page, Royce Anderson does an extensive, comprehensive job of describing, to even the most amateur of cooks, how to make the delicious chocolate truffles and strawberries. And I loved his twist of making these for gifts. Yeah, right, like I would give these away -- I would simply eat them all myself. My friends and family can download the book themselves and make their own. )

As a dessert aficionado and regular gift giver I think Royce Anderson is is right on with these delicious treats. What did I like about this book? The step by step directions, with photos, were excellent. I also appreciated the details about temperature and tempering as this is a critical part of success (the author said this in the very beginning).
I did not like the chapter title spacing (justified, I believe). It bothered me. And, there was one photo that included a hairy arm. That just didn't sit well with the art form.
The information is right on and that's most important. The artistry falls just a little bit short.
I like that this author makes his point about what a special treat these goodies hand made for a significant other are, indeed, a treat that will be especially appreciated by that significant other. My daughter recently went all out in the kitchen for her husband with all his favorites on his birthday and there was no doubt how pleased he was to be getting that gift. I don't think anything else, except maybe these truffles, would have come close.
I also like how the author doesn't beat around the bush but gets straight to work showing the reader how to make these treats and how really possible it is for the average person to pull it off.
